Request an updated W-9 form from a vendor

When you need to collect or refresh a vendor’s tax information, the Avalara 1099 & W-9 API provides two ways to request an updated W-9 (as well as W-4 and W-8 forms):

Create and send in one step: Use POST /w9/forms/$create-and-send-email to create a new form record with minimal vendor information and immediately send an email invitation for the vendor to complete and sign it.
Send or resend from an existing form: Use POST /w9/forms/{id}/$send-email to generate a new draft based on an existing form and send an email request. The new version becomes the active one once signed, while the previous version is archived.

Both methods ensure that the vendor receives a secure email with a link to electronically fill out and sign the form, streamlining the tax document collection process.
