What Tax Central solves

View as markdown

Tax Central centralizes management of recurring tax returns in Brazil through a cloud-based compliance calendar. It maps returns, due dates, and statuses across federal, state, and municipal jurisdictions. It replaces fragmented spreadsheets, emails, and local tracking systems with a centralized system of records for filings, documents, and communication throughout the compliance lifecycle.

Getting started

You can onboard Tax Central through the Brazil Portal by provisioning access for tax and compliance users and configuring company profiles and returns scopes based on the Brazilian compliance footprint. You can then connect to Tax Central’s APIs for calendars, companies, returns, tasks, and reporting using published OpenAPI specifications and environment guidelines.

Core capabilities

Centralized tax calendar
Automatically build and maintain a tax calendar using company registration data and tax profiles, so returns and deadlines reflect the actual compliance footprint instead of manually maintained lists.
Return lifecycle tracking
Track returns from identification through preparation, review, filing, and closure with real-time visibility into pending, in-progress, and overdue work.
End-to-end compliance visibility
Consolidate deadlines, documentation, communication history, and status in a single workspace to reduce blind spots that can lead to late filings and penalties.
Scalable, cloud-native platform
Run on a containerized, cloud-based platform with REST APIs and workers designed to support growing volumes of returns and documents without rearchitecting core processes.

When to use Tax Central

Use Tax Central when you need to:

  • Replace spreadsheet and email based tracking of Brazilian tax returns with a structured, auditable system
  • Gain visibility into returns, deadlines, and statuses across entities in a single calendar view
  • Reduce the risk of late filings and penalties by standardizing monitoring, alerts, and workflows
  • Support long-term scalability as the number of entities, returns, and users grows

How it integrates

Tax Central exposes REST APIs that connect to the Brazil Portal UI, external systems, and other Avalara services. It consumes returns, company data, and documents from upstream systems, such as Data Staging and Brazil Portal services, and can publish returns and status data to ERPs, reporting tools, and downstream compliance workflows through standardized APIs and exports.
