# Glossary

Before continuing, be sure to review the terms in this section, which are provided to help you better understand ClassyVue and some of the abbreviations used in this guide:

**ClassyVue**

Avalara's embeddable tariff-code classification widget, delivered via a hosted JavaScript loader.

**SSTC**

Self-Serve Tariff Code Classification (SSTC) is the Avalara product that powers ClassyVue's classification capability.

**HS code**

Harmonized System (HS) code is a globally standardized numerical code used to classify traded goods for customs purposes.

**HTSUS**

Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) is the 10-digit import tariff code used in CBP entry summaries.

**Schedule B**

The 10-digit U.S. export classification code filed in the Automated Export System (AES)/Electronic Export Information (EEI) via the CBP ACE Portal. Mandatory for U.S. export compliance (15 CFR Part 30).

**TARIC**

Integrated Tariff of the European Communities, the 10-digit EU import tariff code.

**Combined Nomenclature (CN)**

The 8-digit EU export classification code, published by Eurostat/DG TAXUD and used in German export declarations (EX-A) under the Union Customs Code (UCC).

**Profile ID**

A unique identifier issued by Avalara to each ClassyVue customer. Required to initialize the widget.

**importMode**

A boolean parameter in `ccce.classify()`. When `true` (default), returns the import tariff code. When `false`, returns the export classification code for the destination country.

**CIP**

Cloud Integration Platform (CIP) is Avalara's AWS-hosted infrastructure. The `cip` script attribute routes ClassyVue traffic to the CIP-hosted endpoint.

**EEI**

Electronic Export Information (EEI) is the U.S. export declaration filed in AES. Requires a valid Schedule B code.

**AES**

Automated Export System (AES) is the U.S. Census Bureau system for filing export declarations.

**cbp**

U.S. Customs and Border Protection are the agency that administers HTSUS import classifications and AES export filings.
