# Answer screener questions for Canada filing requirements

Learn how to answer screening questions to determine if Avalara can file the client’s Canada returns.

Before the client can begin setting up their Canada returns or submitting a funding power of attorney (POA), they must complete a one-time Canada screening questionnaire. The client’s answers determine whether Avalara can file the client’s Canadian returns on their behalf. The questions are:

-   Are your Canadian transactions already saved in Canadian dollars (CAD)?

-   Can you convert your Canadian transactions to CAD by the 10th calendar day of each filing period?

-   Can you wire transfer your CAD tax payment to Avalara by the 14th calendar day of each filing period?

Provide responses to these questions as **Yes** or **No**. Based on the responses provided, Avalara can determine whether it can file the client’s Canada returns on the client’s behalf or whether the client needs to file their returns independently.

## Submit screening answers

Based on the response of each of the screening question, the outcome might differ in onboarding status and how Avalara determines if it will file Canada returns on the client’s behalf.

**Example 1**: If response to Question 1: TransactionsCurrencyCAD is **Yes**, and Question 3: CanWireTransferBy14th is **Yes**. Then, Onboarding is complete, and as a next step the client needs to set up returns or submit a POA.
