# Onboard leads

Learn how partners can onboard new customers for Avalara MyLodgeTax using the postPartnerLeads endpoint.

Onboarding is the process through which partners can register new customers (leads) for Avalara MyLodgeTax. When creating a new lead, you must include the lead’s contact and location information.

This is done using the [addPartnerLead](https://developer.avalara.com/api-reference/myLodgeAPI/v1/methods/Onboarding/addPartnerLead/) endpoint, which facilitates the register of potential MyLodgeTax leads and generates a link to a prefilled shopping cart page where the user can complete the register process.

Partners referring leads who complete the register will automatically gain access to pull and push data from and to the customer’s Avalara MyLodgeTax account.

Partners should share this link with their leads only after the leads have opted in to share their information with Avalara MyLodgeTax through the [addPartnerLead](https://developer.avalara.com/api-reference/myLodgeAPI/v1/methods/Onboarding/addPartnerLead/) endpoint. Avalara MyLodgeTax will also contact the customer by email and include this link for a convenient register experience.
