# MyLodgeTax environments

Understand the Sandbox and Production environments for MyLodgeTax, including their endpoints and usage guidelines.

Avalara provides 2 environments for MyLodgeTax: **Sandbox** and **Production**. Each environment is separate and requires its own credentials.

If you have a Sandbox account, you can’t use that account to log in to Production, and vice versa.

Note

Use the Sandbox environment for partner development, testing, and validation. The Production environment is for customers only and processes live customer data and real tax filings.

You may want to share your Sandbox credentials with developers and reserve Production credentials for accountants. Keeping these accounts separate helps reduce the risk of reporting test data to a tax authority.
