# Onboard a new lead

Learn how to onboard a new customer from a partner's Property Management System (PMS) into Avalara MyLodgeTax.

This workflow shows how you onboard a new customer (lead) from a partner's Property Management System (PMS) into Avalara MyLodgeTax. The process begins when an user initiates onboarding through the PMS UI. The PMS creates a new partner lead using the **POST /partnerlead** endpoint, which stores partner, customer, and property list data in MyLodgeTax and returns a prefilled shopping cart link. The cart link remains active for 30 days.

The PMS then directs the user to the MyLodgeTax Shopping Cart, where the customer completes the register process. MyLodgeTax uses the partner lead record to create the customer account and associated properties, and then enters the property activation flow for each onboarded property.

Once onboarding is complete, MyLodgeTax notifies the PMS of customer account changes and provides location and status data through the API to help ensure that both systems remain synchronized.
