# Add a new property

Learn how to create and synchronize a new property between a Property Management System (PMS) and Avalara MyLodgeTax.

This workflow illustrates how a new property is created and synchronized between a partner’s Property Management System (PMS) and Avalara MyLodgeTax through API communication.

The process begins when an end user adds a property in the PMS. The PMS stores the property data and syncs it with MyLodgeTax using the [addOrUpdateCustomerLocations](https://developer.avalara.com/api-reference/myLodgeAPI/v1/methods/Customer%20Information/addOrUpdateCustomerLocations/) endpoint. MyLodgeTax adds the new property to the partner’s property list, updates the list, and links the PMS property with the newly created MyLodgeTax property.

Once the property is successfully linked, MyLodgeTax notifies the PMS of the new property creation, stores the property status, and enters the property activation flow. This ensures that both systems remain synchronized and that property setup is complete before activation.
