# Certification requirements - Authentication

Understand the certification requirements for authentication in AvaTax.

There are no certification requirements for you to be able to authenticate into AvaTax. Keep in mind, though, that understanding authentication will be important when you’re designing your own UI. Providing a method for users to authenticate is a certification requirement and is described in a later section.

Tip

When designing a method for users to authenticate, consider providing a way to mask the password as the user is entering it, along with an option to show the password.
