# Proxy Server Problems

Resolve issues with proxy servers causing delays or connection errors when usingAvaTax.

## What you might see or experience

-   Slow or delayed responses when connecting to AvaTax.
-   API calls can time out or fail intermittently.
-   Connection errors appear when your system routes traffic through a proxyserver.

## Why this happened

AvaTax isn’t designed for use with proxy servers. Proxies can introduce latencyor block high-performance API traffic if not configured properly.

Try the following:

-   Avoid using a proxy server when connecting to AvaTax ifpossible.
-   If your company policy requires a proxy, consult your proxy provider forinstructions on how to configure the proxy correctly to workwith AvaTax.
