Understand workflow differences when integrating ECM into ecommerce or ERP environments.

There are some differences in the integration workflow, depending on whether you're integrating ECM into an ecommerce or ERP environment.

An ecommerce application may want to include functionality that automatically sends a request to a registered customer for an exemption certificate as part of the checkout process during a transaction. A section describing how to set up ECM in ecommerce environments appears later in this guide.

An ERP may want to include the exemption information within the customer profile, and the customer service representative can send a notification to the customer for the exemption certificate.
