# Need SSL certificate verification

Resolve SSL certificate verification issues when connecting to AvalaraAvaTax.

## What you might see or experience

-   Your client application fails to connect securely to Avalara AvaTax.
-   You receive SSL or certificate trust errors when making API calls.
-   Tools like **cURL for Windows** show messages asking you to accept or trustAvalara’s web certificate.

## Why this happened

Some web clients require manual installation of Avalara’s SSL public keychain toestablish a trusted connection. Without this, the client can’t verify Avalara’sSSL certificate.

## What might help

Steps

If your client requests that you accept and trust Avalara’s webcertificate, try the following:

1.  Go to the [VeriSign Root CA](https://www.tbs-certificates.co.uk/FAQ/en/34.html)website and follow the instructions.
2.  Save the file in your preferred directory. For example,certs-ca-bundle.crt.
3.  Register that file following your standard certificate storeprocess.
