# Ethernet Problems

Resolve issues with Ethernet performance, such as slow speeds or frequentdisconnections.

## What you might see or experience

-   Slow or inconsistent network performance.
-   Frequent disconnections or dropped packets.
-   Network tests show transmission errors or packet loss.

## Why this happened

These issues can occur due to poor-quality wiring, mismatched speed settingsbetween Ethernet devices, or faulty network hardware.

Steps

Try the following:

-   Check the quality of your Ethernet wiring and the auto negotiatesettings on your devices.
-   Run one of the following commands to check for bad packets:
    -   On Windows: `netstat -s`
    -   On Linux: `ifconfig -a`
-   If you detect an unusual number of bad packets or a performancemismatch, contact your network administrator to see if thecabling can be improved.
