# Set up ELR overview

Overview of the steps required to set up the ELR environment, including sandbox access, mandate activation, and preparation for testing document flows.

Before you build and test your integration, set up your E-Invoicing and Live Reporting (ELR) environment.

This includes getting access to a Sandbox environment, activating mandates, and preparing your setup for testing document flows.

To prepare your environment, you need to:

-   Get access to an ELR Sandbox environment
-   Activate at least 1 country mandate
-   Set up your environment to test document submission and document flow

Note

Some setup steps, such as mandate activation, must be completed before you can submit and test documents.

These steps help ensure your environment is ready to submit documents, receive responses, and validate your integration.
