# Why can’t we automatically add all companies from our application to Avalara?

Your integration must handle the possibility that another business system or integration already uses the user’s Avalara tenant. As a result, many companies already exist in the tenant.

Company objects in ELR represent legal entities and are linked to legal entity information. Each legal entity should be represented only once in Avalara, consistent with real-world structures.
