Learn about Avalara's Tariff Classification services and how they help classify items and retrieve HS Codes.

The [Avalara Item Classification API](https://developer.avalara.com/api-reference/item-classification/v2/) allows you to submit products for Avalara Managed Tariff Code Classification and retrieve the HS Codes. Avalara also offers 2 Tariff Classification subscription services: with storage and without storage.

-   Tariff Classification With Storage will automatically store your item metadata as an Avalara item object. This allows easy reference of your items and metadata throughout Avalara using your own SKU..
-   Tariff Classification Without Storage lets you store your classified items as best suits your needs. If you choose Tariff Classification Without Storage, you’ll need to create a webhook to receive your classifications.
