# Enable client-side logging

Include an option that enables detailed AvaTax for Communications transaction logging within the application. The logging service should be specifically for Avalara service calls; we need the complete request/response for each call made to Avalara services. The logging service doesn’t need to run all the time, as we understand the database will grow large – you’re free to only log the last week, 30 days, custom, or have a control for the next _N_ hours, etc. The spirit of the requirement is to assist customers and support in troubleshooting exercises, so it needs to be retrievable by an end user (or an administrator).

This task is handled through your environment backend and not directly via an AvaTax for Communications API call.
