# Client ID

**Element type: Required**

**Endpoints/models used: N/A**

During the onboarding process, Avalara creates a Customer Portal account, which includes a Username and Client ID for your Communications REST v2 account. Your integration must provide a method for inputting this Client ID in the request header.

Note

- Contact your Customer Account Manager if you don't have a Customer Portal account.
- If your integration supports filing tax reporting documents for separate business entities, and if Avalara is used to file taxes, a separate Client ID will be required for each filing entity during setup.
