# NFS-e issuance

### Provisional Service Receipt (RPS)

NFS-e will be performed through the municipality's web services.

In order to offer a contingency solution for the taxpayer, the Provisional Receipt of Services (RPS) was created. This is a document that must be kept under the responsibility of the taxpayer and must be generated manually or by some local application, with an increasing sequential numbering and must be converted into NFS-e within the deadline stipulated by municipal tax legislation.

The sending of the RPS to the city hall to generate the NFS-e is done in batches, that is, several RPS grouped together to generate an NFS-e for each one of them.

This RPS Batch Receive service is asynchronous. (A process is asynchronous when there is a call to it, with information being sent - RPS batch in this case - and its return is given at another time.)

As proof of shipment of the RPS batch, the recipient will receive a receipt protocol number. The batch received by the municipality will be placed in a processing queue and will be executed in due course. Once processed, it will generate a result that will be available to the taxpayer. This output could be an NFS-e or a list of errors found in the batch.

### Issuing an NFS-e

The NFS-e contains fields that reproduce information sent by the taxpayer and others that are the responsibility of the Tax Authorities. Once the NFS-e is created, it is not possible to be changed. However, it's possible for the taxpayer to cancel or replace it. In case of replacement, it's mandatory to link with the previous one.

The NFS-e must contain the identification of the services in accordance with the items in the List of Services, attached to Complementary Law No. 116, of 2003, and in addition, the service codes corresponding to the municipalities involved in the provision and taking the service.
