# Configure your account

Set up a company and tax profile to enable accurate tax calculations in AvaTax.

To use [AvaTax](https://admin.avalara.com/), you must configure a company and set up a tax profile. Without tax profiles, all test transactions will result in a $0.00 tax calculation.

To continue with this integration guide, set up a test company using a typical scenario and then add a location for a single Lodging location.

Tip

If you're an online travel agent (OTA), follow the steps for creating your company. You can then skip the step for adding locations. Adding locations only makes sense if you’re a property manager that manages a few properties.
