# Refund a reservation (workflow overview)

Learn how to refund an AvaTax for Hospitality reservation using the CreateTransaction API.

Refunding an AvaTax for Hospitality reservation is the same as refunding other AvaTax transactions. But when using the [CreateTransaction API](https://developer.avalara.com/api-reference/avatax/rest/v2/methods/Transactions/CreateTransaction/) to refund a reservation, be sure to include all parameters that you specified in the original sales transaction.
