# Exchange rate effective date

Learn about specifying the effective date for an exchange rate in a transaction.

If your integration allows users to input an exchange rate, then you must also allow users to specify the effective date of the exchange rate in a transaction. You can do this by specifying an `exchangeRateEffectiveDate` at the document level.
