# Add Beverage Alcohol tax collection locations

# Add Beverage Alcohol tax collection locations

In order to collect Beverage Alcohol tax, you must enable AvaTax to collect tax in jurisdictions where you will be creating Beverage Alcohol transactions.

1.  In [AvaTax](https://sandbox.admin.avalara.com "Avalara"), go to **Settings > Where you collect tax**.
2.  Select the **Alcohol tax** tab, then click **Add to where you collect alcohol tax**. 
3.  Select the states where you will be collecting alcohol tax, then scroll to the bottom and click **Add selected regions**. The examples in this guide ship to KY.
4.  Enter effective and (optional) expiration dates for when you want transactions to start and stop being calculated for these locations, then click **Next**. Depending on the location you selected, you may need to enter additional information for tax filing. In that case, you will be prompted in the UI. If not, then the location will be added to the list of where you collect tax.
