# About this guide

Learn how to integrate AvaTax for Accounts Payable (AP) with your ERP system and meet the certification requirements for technology partners.

Welcome to the AvaTax for Accounts Payable (AP) integration guide. AvaTax for AP is a use tax automation platform that provides businesses with the ability to quickly and to more accurately manage use tax compliance. Using transaction information from your accounts payable or procurement system, AvaTax for AP identifies your under/over-collected use tax and calculates tax to minimize liability and overpayment.

This guide describes the steps to follow to integrate AvaTax for AP into your ERP. We've broken these steps down into individual milestones in the order that you should complete them.

- For technology partners, each milestone includes a Certification Requirements section for you to learn quickly what you need to accomplish to earn an Avalara [Use Tax](https://developer.avalara.com/certification/avatax/use-tax-badge/) badge. The badge requirements are broken down into the following types:

    - **Required**: We require you to include this design element to become certified.

    - **Conditional**: Depending on your use case, this design element may be required.

    - **Suggested**: You don't need this design element to become certified, but we recommend that your UI includes suggested elements.

Certification doesn’t entail a code review from Avalara. The requirements are provided to help you create an integration that’s straightforward and uncomplicated for your users and to help ensure that your integration is tax compliant.

For API customers, we recommend that you follow this guide when using AvaTax APIs in your own systems.
