# Set up thresholds

About this task

Set threshold values to define tax calculation and accrual rules in AvaTax.

About this task

Set threshold values to control how AvaTax handles tax calculations and variances.

Steps

1. On the Settings > \> Consumer use settings page, navigate to the Set thresholds tab.
2. For the Amount threshold to ignore, specify 15. This indicates that if the total amount of a purchase transaction is less than $15.00, then AvaTax will accept the vendor's calculated tax and won’t compare it to AvaTax's calculated tax.
3. For the Variance threshold, specify 1. This signals to AvaTax not to accrue tax if the variance between the vendor's calculated tax and AvaTax's calculated tax is less than this 1.
4. For the Accrual threshold in the Number field, specify 100. This signals to AvaTax that any variance less than this threshold is accrued without manual review, unless it's less than the variance threshold as well.
5. Select Save when you're done.
