# Create and commit credit memos

You must ensure that when you process a credit memo, that you accurately record (commit) the credit memo to the AvaTax account. For refunds, this behavior should match the workflow that you use to calculate and record sales transactions. So whether your configuration is set up to calculate only or calculate and commit, your refunds workflow should mirror that workflow.
