# About this guide

Learn how to integrate Avalara AvaTax Address Validation into your system.

Welcome to the Avalara AvaTax Address Validation integration guide. This guide walks you through integrating AvaTax Address Validation into your system. Each section represents a milestone in the integration process. Complete each milestone before starting the next.

This guide assumes that you have already completed the requirements for the [Sales Tax](https://developer.avalara.com/certification/avatax/sales-tax-badge/) badge.

For **technology partners**, this guide includes a Certification requirements section for you to understand what you need to accomplish to earn the [Address Validation](https://developer.avalara.com/certification/avatax/address-validation-badge/) badge. The badge requirements are divided into 3 element types:

- **Required:** We require you to include this design element to become certified.

- **Conditional:** Depending on your use case, you may need to include this design element.

- **Suggested:** We don't require this design element, but we recommend that your UI includes it.

Note

Certification doesn’t entail a code review from Avalara. We provide these requirements to help you create a straightforward and uncomplicated integration for your users and to help ensure that your integration is tax-compliant.

For **API customers**, we recommend that you follow this guide when using AvaTax APIs in your own systems.

Keep the following in mind when integrating AvaTax Address Validation:

- The AvaTax address validation service doesn’t currently provide autocomplete or suggestions when users input an address.

- The AvaTax address validation service is only available for U.S. and Canadian addresses.

If you use our service, we recommend you disable address validation in your UI if a user inputs an address outside the U.S. or Canada.

- A validated address provides the best tax result.

An unvalidated address is likely to get you a tax result, but it may not be as accurate.
